Story
IQ Bowsights launched under Field Logic and now sits in the FeraDyne Outdoors stable, alongside Rage broadheads, Muzzy, Carbon Express, Tru-Fire and SURE-LOC. The first IQ sight landed in 2010 and got attention fast, because the pitch was uncomfortable: at 40 yards, a quarter-inch error in your anchor point can push the arrow more than ten inches off. Fixed pins cannot tell you that is happening. Retina Lock can.
The mechanism is simple enough to explain in a sentence: a green ring sits behind a black dot, and the two only line up when your head, your anchor and the bow are in the same place they were when you sighted in. Centre the dot and the shot is repeatable. Drift, and you see it before you release. It works with a conventional peep sight or without one, and the difference is most obvious past 40 yards.
Honestly, it’s about that one shot where everything just clicks.
The catch worth knowing before you buy: FeraDyne discontinued much of the original IQ line, then brought the Micro back with bladed pins 50% thinner and better fibre containment. That matters commercially, because FeraDyne treats a sight that has left its website as discontinued — and a discontinued sight is no longer covered for repair or replacement. A cheap listing for an older IQ model is a sight with no warranty behind it.
It is also why the range on Amazon is thinner than the brand’s reputation suggests. The Micro 5-Pin in right and left hand and the three-pin Pro Hunter are the sights actually in stock; the Pro XT and the 3-Pin Ultra Lite show as unavailable. The table below sorts the live ones from the rest.

It depends on how you hunt. A fixed multi-pin sight such as the IQ Micro 5-Pin or a Trophy Ridge React H5 is faster at unknown distances and harder to get wrong under pressure — the usual choice for treestand and whitetail hunting. A single-pin slider like the Trophy Ridge Drive Slider gives an uncluttered view and better long-range precision, but you have to dial it, which costs seconds you may not have. Three pins, as on the IQ Pro Hunter, is a middle ground for shots inside 40 yards. Whichever you pick, .019″ fibre is the practical default; .029″ is brighter but covers more of the target at distance.
IQ sights carry a manufacturer’s limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, handled by FeraDyne Outdoors. Two caveats matter more than the warranty text. First, FeraDyne treats any sight no longer listed on its own website as discontinued, and discontinued sights are not covered for repair or replacement — which affects several older IQ models still sold on Amazon. Second, removing a pin counts as modifying the sight and voids the warranty on every model except the IQ Define Pro. Replacement pins are not sold separately.
A controlled range with minimal wind, a flat and level shooting lane, and clear targets. Wind and uneven footing put errors into your groups that have nothing to do with the sight, and you will chase them with the windage knob. If you are setting the Retina Lock, do it here rather than in the field: you need repeatable form to calibrate it against, and a 1/16 Allen key to move the retina up, down, left or right.
The most common distances to begin sighting in are 20 and 30 yards. Starting closer allows the archer to fine-tune their adjustments before moving to longer distances, depending on shooting preferences.
The optimal distance for a bow sight depends on the archer’s preference and shooting style. Generally, a sight set closer to the bow provides better stability and a more consistent aiming point, while a sight positioned farther away can offer a broader field of view. The choice should align with personal comfort and accuracy needs.
To sight a bow, start by setting up a target at a specific distance, such as 20 yards. Shoot several arrows and adjust the sight based on where the arrows hit relative to the target. Repeat this process at different distances to ensure accuracy across various ranges. Fine-tune the sight until the arrows consistently hit the desired points on the target.
A single pin sight offers a clean and uncluttered view, which some archers prefer for accuracy. However, it requires manual adjustment for different distances, while multi-pin options provide quicker transitions for varying ranges. The choice depends on personal shooting style and the types of environments encountered.
